This log cabin, not far from Wistarburgh, pioneer glass-making village, was the center of many arguments before it fell down-age, authenticity, almost everything. Below, Joseph Sickler, of Salem, told me about his great grandfather Ziegler, co-worker of Caspar Wistar, and showed me some rare Wistarburgh glass.

Swedesboro, once New Jersey's center for bear meat and since then celebrated for sweet potatoes, tomatoes, and other garden produce, was one of the early Swedish settlements in the state and first was known as Raccoon. Here Trinity Church, standing high over Raccoon Creek, where Swedish Lutherans built it in 1784, became the stronghold of Episcopalians shortly after. It has a fine colonial interior, and the church still uses Communion plate bought by the Swedes in 1730.
